I love this Montessori bed frame. We have a futon with a mattress cushion on top we use for this. Our toddler loves it. He can climb in and out on his own and gives him the freedom to get in and out. I like that it’s open on both sides and wasn’t a fan of the ones with the guard rails all around. We put a sheer sheet over it and twinkle lights so it’s dreamy and has a sweet cloudy vibe to it. Easy installation, pretty straightforward won’t need the directions. It’s metal and wood and quite sturdy. My toddler will try to climb up the sides and I’m not worried about the structural integrity of the sides.Caution: if you are using a futon instead of a mattress I suggest getting bunkie boards for under the mattress. If the futon is too soft and you an adult sit on the bed to read a story it will sometimes cause the cushion to go through the slats at the base of the frame which can be uncomfortable. Note, I’m not worried about the slats themselves just the comfortability of the futon for us adults in that aspect. Sucks to get a knee down and feel the futon go through the slats. Which actually is a problem with the futon not the slat. Just a suggestion.
