Literally just unfold…so easy to set up! I bought these beds for my 2 teenage sons. We have had them over 2 year now and they’ve held up great! The boys are right at 6ft tall and I got the extra long length. Very happy with this purchase?I really love the look of this bed, but unfortunately it came already scratched in several places on the metal headboard (Possibly from shipping as the box looks like it took a beating). It feels a little too overwhelming to have to put it back in the box and figure out how to return it when it is so large. It was very easy to put together and would also be very easy to store or move in the future. The look is very masculine and perfect for a boys room. I would give it higher stars if the metal didn’t look so beat up all over. I included just a couple of the spots but they were truly all over the headboard.I’ve never bought anything off Amazon that doesn’t have a review. However, I needed an XL single bed frame for my son who is 6”2” tall. I wanted a frame that looked good, was sturdy, easy to assemble and would not have a footboard so my son could hang his feet over the edge of the mattress if necessary. This was the only frame on Amazon that fitted all my criteria at my price level. I was concerned about the quality, that the frame would be creaky and make noise, and whether the mattress would stay in place. I took a gamble with no reviews to go by, and I feel it’s paid off. This frame came double-boxed (thankfully as the outside box had a big gash in it) and I was able to manage to get it upstairs by myself (it’s heavy, but doable by flipping end over end up the stairs). The bed was wrapped well and came with great instructions - but I didn’t need to use them - it’s so simple to set up as it’s all one piece. Took me all of 2 minutes to unfold and set up. It took longer to get the bed out of the box than it did to assemble! It looks great, feels very sturdy, and does not make any noise when someone is moving around on it. The best part is that it will be easy to pack and store for any future moves. It would make a great sleepover bed as you could store it under another bed, and much cheaper than a trundle. The mattress did move around on it, but I had a spare non-slip rug pad that I placed under the mattress, and so far it feels like this will hold the mattress in place (have not yet tested it when sleeping). If that doesn’t work, I’ll stick some Velcro strips onto the frame and on the bottom of the mattress and I know that will work for sure.I’ve yet to test the bed frame out for sleeping, and have no idea how well it will hold up long term - but it looks so well made I can’t see any problems. I’ll try to remember to come back in a few months for a follow up.Best part of all, it looks like an expensive bed frame, but was 1/4 of the price I expected to pay for something like this. The round balls just kind of sit there. You are screw them on, but they are still really, really loose. This was so easy to set up and is sturdy for the price. My complaint is the mattress slides badly. It’s for a guest bedroom, and I worry our guests could be injured. We are using a traditional coil mattress with a fabric underside. I bought a mattress gripper and will see if that helps. I saw another review where someone used Velcro and we may try that if the gripper doesn’t work. I suspect foam mattresses and those with a stickier underside would be fine.I ordered the Mellow Allston frame in 08/2018 when I got my first apartment, and it's coming with me now that I'm moving in 06/2020. It was a heavy box since it all comes in one piece, but was easy to assemble as you just unfold and screw it tight. It does make a creaking sound when you move around and the mattress does slide from side to side, but it's never bothered me. Glad I did my research and got a frame with a footboard or else I'd probably wake up with the mattress on the floor. Overall, very happy with my purchase and moving it should be a breeze. Actually, the only reason I'm writing a review now is because I was trying to find the instructions on how to properly disassemble it.Since I had to put the bed under a window, I was looking for a low see through head board that doesn't cover the window. This one works for me and I left space between the bed and the wall for the curtains to fall nicely to the floor. The set up was super easy. I set it up myself while my husband was at work. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I still have to figure out how to put a bed skirt on it without having to lift a huge memory foam mattress, but even if I could the bed skirt would slide on the metal platform when we put the mattress on top of it. Otherwise it's a nice sturdy enough platform bed. Sometimes the mattress slides a bit but is easy to push it back. The value for the money is worth it
